There is something special about eating in Dorset. Perhaps it is lunch overlooking Poole Harbour, fresh seafood after a morning on the beach, or arriving at a country pub after a walk across Purbeck. Here, the setting is often just as memorable as what is on the plate.

Dorset has a wonderfully varied food scene. From relaxed cafés and beachside restaurants to country pubs, independent bistros and sophisticated dining rooms, there is somewhere for almost every occasion.

By the Water

With Poole Harbour, Sandbanks and the Jurassic Coast on our doorstep, seafood naturally plays a starring role. Think long lunches overlooking the water, fish and chips after a day at the beach, or a sunset dinner with a glass of something cold.

Some of Dorset's best tables are the ones where the view does half the work.

The Long Lunch

Dorset is made for an unhurried lunch. A good table, a bottle of wine and nowhere else you need to be.

Whether it's a relaxed afternoon in Poole, Canford Cliffs or Christchurch, this is the kind of dining that encourages you to stay a little longer.

The Country Pub

Head inland and the atmosphere changes completely. Think log fires, local produce, proper Sunday lunches and muddy boots by the door.

The best Dorset pubs feel wonderfully timeless — the sort of places you discover once and keep returning to.

Somewhere Special

For birthdays, anniversaries, date nights or simply an excuse to dress up, Dorset has plenty of restaurants that make an occasion feel like one.

For us, luxury isn't necessarily about formality. It's finding the right restaurant, the right table and knowing where to go when you want the evening to be memorable.

Our Dorset Table

We don't want to create another list of every restaurant in Dorset. Instead, we'll share the places we'd genuinely choose — from the perfect waterside lunch to the pub we'd drive across the county for.

Because sometimes the best recommendation is simply:

“Go here. Book this table. You'll love it.”
